The Mortal Kombat Tournament
The film then shifts to the present, where we see Raiden, the thunder god and protector of Earthrealm, recruiting three warriors to represent Earthrealm in the Mortal Kombat tournament. They are Liu Kang, a Shaolin monk who has trained his whole life for this moment; Sonya Blade, a Special Forces agent who is pursuing a criminal named Kano; and Johnny Cage, a Hollywood actor who thinks this is all a publicity stunt.
